The Club des villes et territoires cyclables, established in 1989 by 10 pioneering cities, now gathers over 1300 local authorities: municipalities, cities, counties, regions.
It is a major player in the promotion of cycling, active mobility and urban development policies: a network of elected officials committed to the development of daily cycling and sustainable mobility. It participates in all the major debates, in France and abroad, for a better sharing of the street, for the development of sharedzones, for the safety of cyclists and pedestrians in order to encourage sustainable mobility.
The bicycle being a link in the chain of travel, the Club des villes et territoires cyclables favors an approach which takes all means of transport into account – in order to reduce the importance of the automobile and to increase the share of cycling, walking and public transport.
